Swansboro And Emerald Isle, NC has some of the best Red Drum fishing in the country. Mild winters allows us to fish year round for these well managed fish. Our stock keeps growing in numbers which in return, gives us some awesome days on the water using Top water baits along with several, different soft plastics and jig heads along with popping corks and Carolina rigs.
A hungry red will always hit hard and fight harder
From April until the end of November are good months for our flounder fishing and gigging. Using soft plastics, SPINNER-BAITS and live baits we fish POINTS, rocks and docks along with other structure to locate the ole flat fish and if they ain't biting we can hit the water and force feed them with a gig. Along with gigging the flounder we can dip blue crabs, conks and stone crabs claws when in season. Gigging is a cool way to spend some time on the water at night cause you will see stuff at night you won't see during the day. so come on and give it a try
If Speckled Trout is what you want, Then September through DECEMBER are the great months for speckled trout. We use a lot of twitch baits and soft plastics on light jig heads plus popping and slip corks with live baits later in the season. I usually start looking around the inlets mid September and go from there as the specks move up the creeks. I like the hard thump of a speckled trout when he engulfs you artificial baits
If your into BOW-HUNTING or Archery at all, then you should give BOW-FISHING for big stingrays a try. We not only shoot rays ( day or night) we also get Sheapshead, Black Drum and Flounder at night. So if your into slinging sticks BOW-FISHING, then this is right up your alley. Just remember aim low and hold on to that bow cause the fight is on
